Standing at the old main harbor of Aqaba city (the only city that Jordan has next to the sea), this flag pole is the 6th tallest pole in the world, with a 130 m of height. The flag that is waving there with 60*30 meters of dimensions is the flag of the great Arab revolt. It represents the revolutionary Arabic movement that happened against the Ottoman Empire and that pole can be seen all the way from Egypt or Saudi Arabia. Due to the blood relations to the leader of that revolt and the fact that the Jordanian army is called the “arabic army”, this representation has a great deal of honor. It stands at the shore, in a new plaza that is called after the revolt as well, which makes it an icon in the eyes of tourists and locals, along with making a focal point in the urban fabric.
