Because land exists, and human beings exist… Landscape Democracy must exist. It questions the interdependent relationship between individuals and landscape, both with interconnected values. On the human scale, key concepts like voice, rights, memory and identity, and community are the social, emotional, and political terms of people's relation to place. On the landscape side, like nature, urban space, commons, and cultural meaning, reflect the diverse environments that impact and are impacted by human existence. Arrows from both sides direct towards shared principles of participation, empowerment, justice, co-creation, and enjoyment, the dynamic processes assigning meaning in landscape democracy. Surrounding this center are greater values of freedom, equity, right to the city, healthy environment, social justice, and happy life, underscoring that landscape democracy is not just a design philosophy but also a vision for just, inclusive, and livable futures.
